Free ATS resume checker
Paste a resume and a job posting. You'll see the terms the posting leans on, which ones your resume already uses, and the formatting habits that break resume parsers. It runs in your browser — your resume is never uploaded.
Questions about this tool
Is this ATS resume checker free?
Yes, completely. The Headstart ATS checker needs no account, no email address and no payment. The comparison runs in your own browser, so your resume is never uploaded or stored.
Does my resume get uploaded anywhere?
No. The comparison is plain text analysis that runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is saved, and closing the tab discards it.
What does the coverage percentage mean?
It is the share of the terms a job posting repeats and emphasises that already appear in your resume. It is not a probability of passing any employer's applicant tracking system — no ATS publishes its parser. Use it to compare two drafts of your own resume against the same posting.
Which formatting problems does it check for?
Whether a contact email and phone are present, whether roles carry dates, whether standard section headings appear, whether achievements are bulleted, overall length, multi-column or table artifacts, and bullet or hyphen glyphs that get mangled when a document's text is extracted.
Should I add every missing keyword to my resume?
No. Only add terms that are genuinely true of your experience. A keyword you cannot defend in an interview costs more than one you left out, and reviewers notice a resume stuffed with terms the candidate cannot discuss.
